SiREN Evidence Review for the WA Aboriginal Sexual Health and BBV Strategy. SiREN are excited to announce this review and supporting assets commissioned by the Department of Health WA as a part of the development for the fourth WA Aboriginal SHBBV strategy 2019-2023.
SECCA new resource. SECCA have launched a new resource Sexuality, Relationships and Your Rights. This free resource addresses sensitive and critical information relating to sexuality and the law and can be downloaded or distributed in hardcopy.
Opinion Piece: Living proof of Hawke and his successors’ triumph against HIV. If you have a spare minute, this is a great opportunity to read this important piece from Fairfax papers on Australia’s HIV policy response. It provides an interesting glimpse into the early years of the HIV epidemic in Australia and links that to Australia’s current political setting.
Minister for Health Statement – Sexual Health & BBV strategies. In a statement from the Minister for Health, Roger Cook announced a new suite of sexual health and blood-borne virus strategies and resources to target reducing the transmission of infections in WA. This statement addressed the new WA Sexual Health and Blood-borne Virus Strategies 2019-2023, Syphilis Outbreak Response Action Plan, and Talk, Test, Treat, Trace, an STI and BBV manual for Aboriginal communities in WA.
World Hepatitis Day. July, 28. Approximately, 300 million people are living with viral hepatitis and are unaware. On this day, the World Hepatitis Alliance are calling on individuals to take action and raise awareness to find the “missing millions”.

Australian Viral Hepatitis Elimination Conference. This conference aims to build momentum towards elimination of viral hepatitis in Australasia. The conference will focus on increasing diagnosis/testing, improving models of care, treatment, paradigms, and reinfection strategies; as well as evaluate the status of the Australasian section in working towards the 2030 WHO elimination goals. August 5-6, Sydney.
2019 Australasian HIV and Sexual Health Conferences. After nearly 10 years, Perth will again host these conferences. The Sexual Health Conference will be held from September 16-18 and the HIV Conference will be held from the September 17-19. Be sure to save the date now! Registrations are open.
